It was bound to happen eventually: A movie about the sensational Casey Anthony trial is in the works.
According to Variety, Fox TV studios has optioned the rights to "Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony," the new book by former Florida prosecutor Jeff Ashton. The network has yet to give the project the green light, but Variety reports a writing team is already in place to work on the book adaptation.
Of course we all know the ending -- Casey Anthony will walk free. But the TV movie will take viewers on the three year journey the Florida prosecution team went on to try and convict her for killing her 2-year-old daughter.
So, who should get the starring roles? On Tuesday Jeff Ashton stopped by HLN’s Joy Behar Show and Joy suggested “Ides of March” star George Clooney for Ashton’s role, but Ashton has a suggestion of this own. “There was a web discussion during the trial about that. The suggestion was Ben Stein should play me,” said Ashton.
